A message from Mrs Bromley & Dr Chalwell

A message from Mrs Bromley & Dr Chalwell

At this time of year, many students and families are looking forward to the end of term events that celebrate the conclusion of the school year. One event that we are all looking forward to is our biennial P&F Spring Fair which will be happening on Saturday from 10:00am. In addition, Kindergarten students have been preparing for our annual Kindergarten Nativity on the 25th of November and Stage 1 students are rehearsing for our new K-2 Christmas Service . This service and the Y ears 3-6 Christmas Service (both on the 2nd of December) are opportunities for Junior School parents to join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

For our staff and teachers, this term is also very much focused on planning for a successful start to the year that is ahead. Our teams have been working together to ensure that students will have a smooth transition into the new grade or year group that they will commence in 2025.

In the Junior School, teachers have been working together to form 2025 classes. This is an encouraging task, as teachers look back on the year and reflect on the growth of their students. We carefully consider a number of factors to build classes that will work together where individual students can flourish. This is an important task as we look towards Kindergarten Orientation on the 28th of November and Grade-up Day on the 3rd of December. In addition, students who are moving to a new part of the Junior School will start activities that help to familiarise them with their new surroundings. Each of these events help our students to look towards 2025 with calm clarity about the future.

We have been investing in establishing stronger connections between our Junior School and Senior School students. Next week our Year 6 students will have their Orientation Day for Year 7, 2025 . Our Peer Support leaders from Year 9 (Year 10, 2025) will be on hand to support and guide our ‘new’ secondary students and introduce them to the routines, buildings and people that they will be engaging with with next year. We are excited for our RHAC students to meet their new classmates who will be coming from a wide range of primary schools in the local area.

The College continues to develop our approach to teaching and learning to ensure our students are learning from research-informed teaching practices. We are also refining our teaching programs and staff professional learning to ensure we align our practice with the NSW Curriculum reform and the RHAC 5 Teaching and Learning Principles . In the Junior School we are excited about our students’ developing growth in literacy and numeracy, and are planning knowledge-rich units of work for History, Geography and Science in 2025. In the Senior School our focus on Explicit Instruction continues to be a key area of inclusion as we implement new NESA syllabuses in English, Maths, Science and PDHPE with more on the horizon.

There are some exciting new plans for 2025, including seeing the finishing stages of our Senior Studies Building , the Senior School musical ‘Mary Poppins’ in May (rehearsals are already under way!) and the strengthening of our Extra-Curricular program in Junior School. Moving forwards, we are delighted to have Mr Luke Adams, Head of Student Opportunities, expand his role to include all years from K-12.

So much time and energy goes into preparing for new pathways in our lives, but we are reminded that our journeys are directed by our good and gracious God. Jeremiah 29:11-12 says, For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you”. We look forward to the celebrations that mark the end of a school year and to what 2025 will bring. We also continue to work to provide students with important learning through to the end of the year.

We look forward to taking a moment from all this tomorrow as we enjoy the P&F Spring Fair. See you there!

From the Scriptures

How we are saved

How we are saved

I wonder have you ever found yourself thinking, I am saved by grace, but now I have to please God and be a good person? Have you ever come across people who believe you have to be good to be saved or they hope that their good deeds out way their bad so that they can get to heaven?

I think the Apostle Paul makes it clear in his letter to the Ephesians as to how we are saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Paul does not leave the statement there but also wants us to know that Faith does not stand alone, rather the evidence of your faith must also be present. The evidence is good works but it is a result of your relationship in Christ, not what you have to do to try and please God.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

It is with this understanding we approach James 2:14-26. As we read this, ask the question, Do I believe I have to do good works because I have to be a good person or do you believe in the good news of Jesus and because of my relationship with Jesus good works flow?

James 2:14-26

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Blessings.

Pathways Seminar Series for Year 12 2025

Pathways Seminar Series for Year 12 2025

On Monday 4th November, the College ran the first of our Pathways Seminar Series for our Year 12 2025 cohort.

Representatives from Western Sydney University (WSU) attended the College at lunch to discuss tertiary pathway options for our students following their final year of high school. 55 students attended the seminar to gain a better understanding of the application process and entry pathways into future courses at WSU and opportunities the university can offer our students, should they deem it the right fit for them.

The Pathways Seminar Series will continue in 2025 with the aim of assisting the students in making informed choices about their future pathways after the HSC in 2025.

Todd Woodbridge Cup

Todd Woodbridge Cup

The Todd Woodbridge Cup is a primary school tennis competition for Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) that uses modified equipment, numeric scoring and mixed gender teams. Rouse Hill Anglican College fielded two mixed teams in the Stage 2 and 3 competitions in Terms 3 and 4 this year. Our representatives were Joshua M, Kaylee B, Reia D, Isla F, Arjun K, Hritvik L, Ada L, Amelia L, Chris M, Vihaan M, Reyansh M, Anvita N, Diva P, Parker R, Aashi S and Evan VR.

We had two great days of tennis; the students played amazingly well, demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship throughout the competition. The Stage 2 Team made it to the Regional Finals but unfortunately, we did not make it to the Grand Final.

Both teams learnt a lot from the experience, which should help us prepare for the Todd Woodbridge Cup in 2025. I would like to thank all the parents who came and support the team. I congratulate both teams on their great efforts and look forward to more tennis in 2025.

K-6 Dance Showcase

K-6 Dance Showcase

In Term 4 dance lessons, each class has been working hard to collaboratively put together a whole class dance. Performing to a live audience is such a special and important part of performing arts and I am very excited to bring the Dance Showcase back for another year.

Each class has spent their Term 4 lessons using their knowledge and skills of the elements of dance to offer up creative dance movements and combinations to be pieced together into one cohesive performance. It is so special to see the excitement and creativity blossoming from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The showcases will be presented in the College Auditorium at the following times:

RHAC P&F

RHAC P&F

The P&F exists to foster community, connection and contribution amongst College families, and the broader College community. We exist to generate a sense of community involvement amongst the College and to contribute back to the College through social activities, community events and fundraisers.

This is a big year for the P&F with our biennial Spring Fair. As the saying goes: many hands make light work. If you’ve been considering how you can get involved, this is your opportunity. All parents/carers are welcome to attend, regardless of your involvement in the committee.

This year, we're excited to announce the Spring Fair, a major fundraising event in the 2024 calendar. We welcome your support in planning and participating throughout the year as many hands make light work. Businesses interested in sponsorship or supplying goods or services are encouraged to reach out.

Family Support Meals

From time to time, fellow families at the College are hit by unforeseen stresses (physical, emotional, financial, etc.). The RHAC P&F, through your support, facilitates a way for those families to access quality meals in their time of need to simply ease a bit of the pain during difficult times.

You can help by donating a store-bought meal, or by donating as little as $10 by clicking the link below which would be greatly appreciated. If you can provide a store-bought meal for the freezer, slices / banana breads / muffins (lunch box fillers) and desserts are also most welcome and may be dropped off with Mrs Sharon D’Agostino at the College main reception.
